Story Builder — one sentence at a time.
A collaborative word game for creative team kick-offs. Everyone adds one word at a time to build a shared story, one surprising sentence after another.
Only the facilitator signs in. Participants just join.
How it works
Take turns adding words to build a story, then reveal an AI-generated synopsis of your team's script.
Why this works
A one-word turn is the smallest possible contribution. No one can hide and no one can dominate. The story drifts wherever the team takes it, and the final read-back is a compact artifact of how this exact group thinks when their ideas are stitched together.
What facilitators say
Everyone contributes and the story belongs to no one, so quieter people aren't bulldozed by the louder voices that usually shape group output.
Where it lands
Who it's for
- Creative and content teams at workshop kick-offs
- Cross-functional project teams starting a new brief
- Remote teams needing a light collaborative warm-up
- Small team offsites (3–10 people)
Best for
- 5-minute kick-off for a content or design sprint
- Creative team warm-up before a brainstorming session
- Remote team social for a team of 3–10
- Offsite opener on day one for a new project team
When not to use this game
Because each player only sees the last few words, the result can come out incoherent or off-brand if the group pushes it in awkward directions. For senior leadership groups or client-facing sessions, pick a more structured warm-up.
Facilitator script
We're building a story one word at a time. You'll see the last few words and add one more. Don't overthink it. React to what's in front of you.
